When Love Comes To Town

All about Christmas week.

Tuesday was Sir Jaypee’s (my boss) birthday so the entire office trooped to Country Spice Tektite for his lunch treat. I’ve always loved their food since that’s where we usually order take out office lunches. However, last Tuesday was my first time to visit the actual resto and I loved how it reminded me of Mad Men.

Smokers’ booth. There was a lady inside dressed like she was stuck in the 60s so she added to the mood. Haha.

The entire place was decorated with lovely Christmas-y stuff.

I was feeling so sick last Tuesday (cough and colds we meet again) I had to drag myself out of bed to get to work to finish one last script. Tuesday was supposed to be my last day in the office but since I have this rush project on my plate, I had to go to work on Wednesday which was my Dad’s birthday.

Good thing I was allowed to come in after lunch so we had lunch at Banapple Katip to celebrate Dad’s 56th. :)

The lights looked really cute I had to take a picture:

Here’s the food we feasted on. I cannot remember their names (except for the Caesar Salad haha). Banapple should’ve just come up with short, witty names for their dishes:

Of course we didn’t miss the Banoffee Pie! My mom, the Banapple newbie, loved it so much she ordered a whole cake to bring home to Lucban! We ordered the Yo Ho Hope Cheesecake too:

Was teasing my mom because she hates her stolen pictures hahaha:

This photo made me LOL so hard!!! My parents make better wacky faces than I do:

Cheers to my Dad’s 56 wonderful years (Kpop pose pa HAHAHAHA):

Now fast forward to Christmas. It’s become our tradition to celebrate it in Lucban every year and this year was rainy, pretty quiet (some of my cousins stayed in Manila), but still meaningful.

We arrived there on the 23rd and I just bummed around and marathon-ed Game of Thrones and Mad Men. On Christmas Eve my cousins visited and played games in the iPad all day. We heard a two-hour mass in the evening and had a hearty Noche Buena. I love just how laid-back Christmas is in Lucban. And my grandma’s funny one-liners and antics will always be a bonus.

On Christmas Day, my cousins (all girls ages ranging from 11 to 15) visited again and in the middle of Fruit Ninja, Zombie Cafe, and Snoopy’s Street Fair, they asked me that one question I hate to hear during family reunions: if I have a boyfriend.

I just said no, I don’t have one. What I thought was a simple question eventually became endless pangungulit and I just found myself telling them everything.

What surprised me was how maturely they listened and reacted to what happened. My two cousins, both 15, were so mad at him but had this to ask me, “What if you guys still end up together?”

Of course we all know that’s synonymous to impossible but it’s amusing how they handled what I told them. They even got angry at me for waiting too long. Hahaha.

I don’t mean to scoff at their age and little experience but I didn’t expect them to have that much idea on life and love already. They made me realize that sometimes the younger ones can really mess up our minds.

Okay. Just to set the record straight: I’m no longer hoping and I no longer want him. But let’s admit it. We didn’t have an ending. It’s like that scene in a movie when something big’s about to happen and then suddenly somebody rolls in the credits.

One of them even blurted out of the blue, “What if you meet him again after many years and he’s changed and he still likes you and he’s going to turn everything around?”

What if?

Oh what the hell, there are better things to think about.
