Movie 2: One Day (yes, bitch got addicted)

Title: One Day
Year: 2011
Director: Lone Scherfig
Scriptwriter: David Nicholls
Cast: Anne Hathaway, Jim Sturgess (WHO IS SO SMEXY ALL THROUGHOUT)
It’s like watching the book come to life (DUH of course it’s the movie version) but this one fell short because of one, crucial thing: the actors’ CHEMISTRY.
Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess are great choices for the roles but when put together, the two actors don’t seem to connect. There’s only one scene in the movie where I really felt some sexual tension between the two. This one:
Favorite scene: When Dexter and Emma go on a trip together and they decide to spend some time in the sea, Dexter slathers Emma’s back with some sunscreen. I love how Jim Sturgess looked so aroused. HAHAHA.
Yes, Anne and Jim look good together onscreen but they failed to resonate deeply to me, as an audience, in moments that matter most.
The screenplay could’ve been better, I guess. But I understand Nicholls’ refusal to alter the original lines from the book since they’re good as is. It’s just that once you’ve read the thing, it leaves you with nothing new to experience.

I think Romola Garai (as Sylvie) stood out if only for the fact that she was gorgeous as hell. *girl crush alert*
And yeah, Anne Hathaway’s better off with non-British roles. Girl can’t fake the accent well.
