Movie 3: Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows

Title: Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows
Year: 2011
Director: Guy Ritchie
Scriptwriters: Michele Mulroney and Kieran Mulroney

Watched the movie last Friday with my college friends and one thing’s sure: We all had a great time. Even if Dove and Chi already watched it prior to our movie date, they still loved it. I guess that tells you much about how enjoyable this movie is. It’s the perfect barkada movie when you guys just want to unwind and have a good time in the cinema.

This second movie in the Sherlock Holmes franchise is a lot more fun than the first one. Script is tighter and more witty plus the play on the bromance between Sherlock and Watson made the movie even more hilarious and kilig (if you ask Karen and Dove who were swooning the entire time). Haha.

Favorite scene: The chase scene after Watson saves Sherlock from Moriarty’s arms factory in Berlin. I swear the editor (James Herbert) showed off some serious skills here. We were in awe the whole time. Editing was B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T. It’s one solid example on how excellent editing adds thrill and drama to what could’ve been just another movie chase scene.

I’m especially happy for the fact that Jared Harris plays Professor Moriarty in this one. I’m not a big fan but I love him as Lane Pryce in Mad Men. He speaks with such clarity; I think I have a big crush on his speaking style and voice. :P

Movie was definitely worth our 200 bucks and I say you go watch it on the big screen if only for that chase sequence I mentioned earlier. I also loved what they did with the ending and I’m pretty sure this isn’t the last we’ll see of Robert Downey Jr.’s fascinating portrayal of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved character.
